SUMMARY

Under general direction, responsible for reviewing Electrical and  Mechanical HVAC Systems (packaged HVAC units, VAV boxes, fan coils, air handlers, dampers, valve/actuators, variable frequency drives, controls etc.), for C&C Building Automation construction projects.  Provide ongoing technical expertise and support and achieve the highest possible level of customer satisfaction on assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares AutoCAD control drawings for construction projects, based on plans and specs.
  • Reviews electrical and  mechanical HVAC Systems to a prototype design.
  • Read and understand Electrical and Mechanical plans,
  • Reviews the sales BOM for all estimates by reading the specifications and schedules, asking the right questions of missing information, and developing an internal bid.
  • Recommends solutions to customer issues to maximize total value solution.
  • Develops complete submittals per the specification and mechanical schedules.
  • Has a working knowledge of current lead-times at the factory and drives submittal completion and sign-off to allow use of standard lead-times. 
  • Follow up with Operations Team Leader, documenting quality issues, installation issues, etc., to assure jobs are delivered and executed as expected.
  • Proactively partner with external customers’ facilities staff and Contractors to create and  improve C&C work processes, to the betterment of Company performance as measured by Customer Satisfaction, completion time and job profitability.
  • Work closely with internal customers (Field, Service) to focus the Companies’ efforts to effectively complete our construction contracts.
  • Bring value to the team through administration of procedures to cross-check and verify installed systems, providing support and assistance through awareness and communication.
  • Create customer loyalty and satisfaction in all aspects of work.
  • Contribute to build an environment based on courtesy, knowledge and respect.
  • Abide by C & C employee policies, procedures and safety requirements - including but not limited to those covered in the employee handbook, during orientation, and/or in ongoing training sessions.

   

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum education level of Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelors’ Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years direct experience with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical plans.  Thorough understanding of Division 15 & 16 specifications, and the ability to interpret these, and compare C&C’s varied product offerings.
  • 2-3 years experience with HVAC equipment and controls strategies with a focus on energy management strategy.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools. AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with thermal dynamics, associated with equipment selections and good engineering practices.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction related plans.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with clients, all levels of internal organization, and the general public.

 

COMPUTATIONAL / MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to design, perform and communicate mathematical analysis using MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook). Combine this with an understanding of energy rate, schedules measurement techniques to provide consumption analysis and cost avoidance strategy.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to reason interpersonally with internal and external customers to achieve a friendly on time and orderly job performance. Must know when to seek assistance from other functional areas within the organization and/or higher ups.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a current driver's license.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

-     Must have the ability to read and understand Electrical and Mechanical plans, with a good working knowledge of power and demand management concepts and energy markets.

-     Must have familiarity with any major, modern, control product; particular experience with Novar, Trend, Bacnet, LON or Modbus based systems would be a distinct plus.

-     Must be able to track, work on, and follow through on multiple concurrent tasks in order to achieve proper closure and to meet deadlines.

-     Must have excellent computer software skills, specifically in Excel (creating and entering data onto spreadsheets), Word (correspondence and reporting), Outlook (all email related functions), and Access or similar program.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit or walk for prolonged periods of time. Also required to talk or hear utilizing the telephone or in person.  The employee is often required to type on a computer; to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb stairs, ladders or scale ditches on construction sites.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily exposed to normal office conditions and is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions when at construction sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, though some site visits may result in exposure to moderate to loud conditions. Some site visits are considered hard hat areas and require heightened safety awareness. Some extended travel using cars, and planes may be required.
